Life is good is a brand focused on spreading good vibes through its line of apparel, accessories, and other products, and the contagious grin of Jake, its iconic cultural hero. Its positive message follows the timeless principles of simplicity, humility, and optimism. Started in 1994 by Bert and John Jacobs, two brothers hawking T-shirts on the streets of Boston and in college dorms, Life is good has grown into a global company with a passionate community of devotees who see the glass half-full.
Life is good Festivals & Kids Foundation
Life is good commits the power of its brand to its oversized mission: to spread optimism globally. The company rallies good people around this great cause through Life is good Festivals. These homegrown, inspiring events serve two purposes: spreading good vibes by bringing communities together for good, old-fashioned outdoor fun, and funding the Life is good Kids Foundation. The Life is good Kids Foundation uses the power of play to heal and strengthen at-risk children whose lives have been deeply impacted by trauma, including violence, poverty, and loss.
Since 2003, Life is good Festivals have attracted 400,000 people who have helped raise over $4 million for kids facing life-threatening conditions, while celebrating the power of optimism. These events have ranged from over-the-top pumpkin festivals on Boston Common (breaking the Guinness World Record for the most lit jack-o'-lanterns on display in 2006) to letting fans enjoy tunes while playing on the grass at Fenway Park (2007) to free music and games in Golden Gate Park (2009).
